February 23 Ten reasons why MEN should not become ordained ministers!This is in jest folks, please don't take offence..! Although I guess I'm trying to be provocative too...
1. Men are too emotional to be vicars. Their conduct at football matches proves this.
2. A man's place is in the army, not in the church.
3. Some men are so handsome that they would distract women worshippers.
4. Their physical build indicates that men are more suited to tasks such as chopping down trees and wrestling mountain lions.
5. In the New Testament, the person who betrayed Jesus was a MAN.
6. Men are overly prone to violence. They settle disputes by fighting. Thus they would be dangerously unstable in a leadership role.
7. Man was created before woman, obviously as a prototype. Thus they represent an experiement rather than the crowning acheivement of creation.
8. To be a vicar is to take on a nurturing role, which is traditionally the woman's role.
9. Men can still do church activities without being ordained, e.g. clearing church paths, repairing the roof, maybe even leading the singing on Father's Day.
10. No woman in a congregation is going to respect a man who wears a skirt! |
